I don’t want to smile. If I had a reason to smile, I would be doing. But I don’t. So I’m not doing.

Cheer up

Give me a reason to and I might. Without good reason I certainly won’t.

Things could be worse

Yes, I’m contemplating how they would be. And I’m worried that they will be.

It’s not the end of the world

How do you know? You wouldn’t know the end of the world if it walked over to you, announced itself as the end of the world, and the world promptly ended. There are plenty of ways the world is going to end, and we’re on a slippery slope towards all of them. What I’m thinking about is the end of my world, not yours. I’m sure you’d rather I ended my world somewhere else, so all you have to see is the happy smiley faces.
